We all know it’s only in beta, so bugs are to be expected. This list is by no mean complete, and is just a list of bug that I’ve in my past few days with os 4.0 on an iphone 3G, running on provider Softbank in Japan.

This is also not to put down Apple, I do realize that the OS 4.0 is beta and it is fun to use. Finally, I’d send this information to apple if I could find somewhere to send it – there doesn’t seem to be any place on the developer site to send it.

Some bugs everyone seems to know about, and some are a little more bizarre.

1. Disappearing Folders

Folders are great, but if you sync with itunes and you have added, deleted or moved an app, then the folders disappear.

Fix:

There is no fix, there is a way around this, providing you don’t add a new app move apps around in itunes or delete an apps, the folders that you created on your iphone will still be there. This is obviously waiting for an itunes update.

2. Brightness stuck at dim

When I wake up in the morning, I usually read news on my phone for half an hour, as the iphone on full brightness can burn your eyes out first thing in the morning, I turn down the brightness in settings; this works fine. However, later in the day when I go to turn up my brightness, nothing happens.

Fix:

I switch off the display by briefly pressing the power button the top of the phone. When I press the power button again or the home button, the brightness is where I want it.

3. No Voicemail

I use my phone for browsing the net and reading news the most; so I put the phone, mail and mms apps into a folder on the bottom left of my desktop. This is how this works, if you put the phone app inside a folder, it works fine; you can make calls receive calls. However, is you miss a call and have voicemail set up, the phone will inform you that you missed a call, and will show a couple of buttons so you can choose to listen to your call, but when you put the button or go into phone app – there are no voicemail messages.

Fix:

remove your phone app from the folder and put on your desktop, NOT in a folder, then all your voicemail will appear, once you receive another voicemail.

Have Fun – to be continued…
