Rogue Thief
Rogue Thief is a currently unsigned band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The idea is simple: a lead guitar, a rhythm guitar, and an electronic drummer .
Although in theory a three piece band, at its heart it is a one man show. My name is Rocco; I am that one man.
After working as long as I have on this project, it has become a bit difficult for me to provide an adequate description of it’s content…. I suppose that “Alternative” is as good a label as any for it. Years ago, I would have named any number of artists as my influences (Iggy Pop, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, BigWig, Joy Division, Skunk Anansie, The Doors etc.), as to my current influences, well… I have none musically, not anymore. After reflecting upon the pretension and petty place- seeking that seems to plague the music business, I’ve become disgusted with the attitude favored by many of my peers. For this reason, I’ve come to acknowledge no kinship with any other musician. Stylistically, my influence is my life, and the events which transpire therein. That being said, how does one classify his or her life? Nothing is black or white, only shades of gray.
My goals are to gain exposure and ultimately find a way to earn a living doing what makes me happy. I have little care for politics, money, fashion, or whatever else it is that people would deem motivating. Mine is a love of adventure and accomplishment. I see little reason to meddle in the affairs of others, and would normally prefer not to whenever possible.
My music is like myself -generally aggressive, though not really loud…often melodic, though not really easy… grainy and raw, though smooth and flowing…angry yet calm…loving and cruel-and I am like life. I am fully aware of the nature of my recordings; I prefer a raw, gritty sound as opposed to a polished, sterile one. If this compromises my worth as an artist in the estimation of the listener then be it so. While I am not unyielding in this philosophy, I feel it best to be true to who am as opposed to what may sound more aesthetically pleasing to the ear of a commercial audience.
Attached is a copy of “Frontline”, off of my current LP: “N7: Neutral Grey” . Hopefully it will give you a better idea of what it is that I’ve been talking about. I thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to the possibility of working together in the future.
