Sentinel Support

Practical notes for public beta users.

This page will grow into the main support area for Sentinel, including documentation, release notes, bug reporting and camera troubleshooting.

USB Hub Compatibility

During development, we observed that not all USB hubs behaved identically when multiple USB cameras were connected. Some hubs reliably supported multiple simultaneous camera streams, while others exhibited intermittent issues such as delayed startup or missing video after reconnect.

If you experience camera problems, try:

  • Connecting cameras directly to the Mac.
  • Using a different USB hub.
  • Using a powered hub if available.
  • Distributing cameras across different USB ports or controllers where practical.

Camera behaviour may vary depending on the USB hub, cables, cameras and Mac hardware.

Sentinel Crashes on startup

If Sentinel crashes when starting, do the following.

Disconnect all USB cameras and restart Sentinel.

If Sentinel starts normally, reconnect the cameras one at a time.

A faulty or unresponsive camera can sometimes remain visible to macOS even though it is no longer operating correctly.

About Mind Technology

Technology should help people, not get in their way.

Every project begins with a simple question:

“How can I make this experience better?”

Whether it's learning, working, creating, or simply having fun, I enjoy building tools that make everyday experiences a little better.

Technology is simply the means.

The goal is always the experience.
