What Leads to Success in English?

There are a number of things that lead to success in learning a language. This is loosely based on Richard St. Johns Ted talk: The Eight Traits Successful People Have In Common.

It is slightly modified for learning English.

1. Have Passion For English

You should be passionate about learning English. When people ask you about your hobbies, you may have a number of hobbies, but one hobby you should always have is Studying English.

Say, “I love learning English!”

Really believe this. People always find time for their hobbies, even when they are busy. If learning English is your hobby you are more likely to find time to study and improve it.

2. Work Hard, But Smart

You should work to improve your English. Only by putting in the effort can you hope to improve.

You can’t improve your English by just hoping that it will improve, you have to put in the work.

You should also use the techniques in this book to study more efficiently.

Work to improve your English, but work smart to improve quicker...

1. Introduction

This book teaches you not only how to learn English, but how to learn any human language you want to learn.

Maybe there are some techniques you haven’t thought about before.

Some seem crazy, others make more sense, but all these techniques are very useful in improving your Language abilities.

This book doesn't teach you English, but rather teaches you how to learn English far more effectively than you ever thought was possible.

Learning how to learn efficiently is very important to improve your English skills far more quickly...

3.12 - Body Language

Introduction

A lot of communication comes through body language and gestures.

Gestures are intentional movements that convey direct information. Body language can be far more indirect and often unintentional.

Emblems

Gestures that represent words or short phrases are called emblems. If you move your head up and down, this is called a nod and means yes.

Moving your head from left to right means no. A moving hand gesture can mean: come here.

Emblems can replace words.

Note: Many emblems are similar across countries. However, in some countries the gestures are different.

For example, nodding your head in the country of Bulgaria means no...

Illustrators

Illustrators are like emblems, but illustrators are usually combined with spoken language; they don’t replace it.

Think of phrases like: over there, combined with a hand gesture...
